Major Stormwater Pipe Project in the Hawkesbury

Date: 16-09-2022

The Project

In 2021, Hawkesbury City Council engaged with local contractors to repair a stormwater pipeline that had been severely damaged in flooding events.

The Cornwallis Road stormwater project involved replacing twin steel pipelines stretching from the Hawkesbury River to Cornwallis Road, after the existing steel pipelines gave way to floodwaters creating a deep hole between the road and the river. This resulted in the closure of Cornwallis Road, and contractors needed to rebuild the twin pipelines and reinstate road access.
