Cadia has this month commissioned its newly installed solar system, featuring 214 panels, tilted to achieve best efficiency. Not only will we be able to supply a significant amount to the grid, but we will also be able to produce enough power to cover our entire consumption most trading days. This was a large project and we were proud of our safety record in that it was completed injury and incident free. We are also very pleased that the selection of this system will reduce our carbon footprint by approximately 42 Tons per year.

Our sponsorship of WIOA this year was another highlight on our calendar and we showcased the HH200 Battery Powered Valve Actuator there. We were delighted to repeat the BBQ giveaway competition and the Bendigo winner was Tim Tanner from Goulburn Valley Water. We look forward to seeing you at next years WIOA shows.

We also exhibited at the LG NSW Water Management Conference in early September, which was held in Armidale. Did you see our big green Water Dispenser parked outside the Armidale Ex-Services Club? These filling stations permit water vending in bulk for use by R.V.’s, the public, and even for commercial tankers who then deliver water to rural customers. Their sturdy anti-vandal construction enable them to be placed anywhere a council needs to provide water to the community. Tim and our latest recruit Dominic were also showcasing our new water meter accuracy display which generated some good conversations. The drought affecting many regions in Australia is a sobering reminder of how critical water usage accuracy and conservation is, and Cadia strives to source the best products to ensure this.

Recently our General Manager Roy White was invited to meet the Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, along with other local business leaders. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss the various issues facing businesses both locally in the Central West and throughout the state.

The quantity and quality of entries into the My Country, My Water photo competition was impressive – however there can only be one winner…. This year Hayden Brain from Rous County won with a picture of his daughter surfing at Flat Rock Beach in Northern NSW. Congratulation’s!

A big welcome to Adam McBrien who has been appointed to the position of Area Sales Manager for VIC/SA. Adam comes to Cadia with a long history in the irrigation and water sectors, and we are very enthusiastic about how his appointment will enhance our customer service in the region. On August 1st Cadia will be launching a photo competition for our Council and Utility customers. Look out for the email to share what’s beautiful about your region and how water features in it. You will have a great opportunity to win a basket of regional providores items for your team and to showcase your photographic talent.

The cool frosty mornings in some regions of Australia are having a significant impact on water supply (and also measurement of its use). Here in Orange, some very snowy days have been followed by frosty days, with their crunchy grass and frozen windscreens, not to mention the damage caused to the mechanical brass water meters in use, and a requirement to replace those that have failed. We are receiving increased enquiry from many councils keen to learn more about the innovative new “Frost-Proof” water meters. These robust meters are specially designed with a tapered valve that prevents water build up in the meter itself, and this technology ensures the meter will not freeze, even if the pipes do. So if your water network is subject to frosts, you may be able to benefit from this, and enjoy accurate water readings, not compromised by cracking or leaks caused by frost or freezing temperatures. The “Frost-Proof” design features compliance to Australian standards and can quickly and easily be changed over.

Many of our Sydney customers would know Jackson from our sales team and his keen approach to taking care of his customers. You may not know that Jackson is a big fan of Manchester United in the English Premier League. Over the past year Jackson has had a small wager with our operations manager Gary and he LOST.  This is how he was dressed last Monday as he humbly accepted his punishment, a Liverpool F.C. jersey.

Peter Wykes joined the Cadia Sales Team last month, and will be looking after Southern NSW and Mildura surrounds.  Peter is based in Wagga, but was born and bred in Beckom.  Peter and his wife moved to Wagga just 5 months ago from Griffith.  Peter is a passionate footie player, and recently played his 250th Aussie Rules game.
